Except for a constitution of the Andhra Lutheran Conference, the records consist of correspondence between the executives of the Board of Foreign Missions (C.V. Sheatsley, Richard Taeuber, and Theodore P. Fricke) and the secretaries and treasurers of the Andhra Lutheran Conference (called India Conference until 1948). The secretaries included are C.W. Oberdorfer, 1955; S. Fritz, 1947-1949; L.H. Heyde, 1949- 1951; Leonard J. Schulz, 1951-1953, 1955-1957, 1963-1968 (secretary-treasurer beginning in 1968); E. Chell, 1953-1954; Gertruth Kettner, 1957-1960; Mildred Monke, 1960-1961; Dorothy Meyer, 1961; Raymond A. Martin, 1961-1962; William N. Weiss, 1968-1971; and Hilma Gjerde, 1973. The treasurers included are A. Wilch, 1936-1937; M.H. Schramm, 1932-1935; Carl M. Doermann, 1938-1945; H.W. Mayer, 1946-1951, 1953-1954, 1960-1963; Willis Nye, 1951- 1953; R.E. Behm, 1955-1958; Joel Mayer, 1960, 1971-1973; W.N. Weiss, 1963-1965, 1969- 1970; Leonard H. Schulz, 1968; and Hermina Meyer, 1973. The correspondence of the treasurers often includes financial statements.

The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Representatives from each of the constitutent churches formed the Joint Union Committee in 1950 to effect the merger. Presidents of the constituent bodies at the merger were Henry F.
